Apps

Set up the app for a customer

A new customer needs two things to watch in an M3UTool app: the app on their device and an activation code from you. The customer types the code once, and the app sets itself up with your channels, your guide and your branding. Follow these steps to get a customer watching.

Step 1: Make an activation code

  1. Open the customer: In Customers, click the customer in the list.
  2. Open the window: Click Give to customer.
  3. Make the code: Under Set up the M3UTool app, click Generate code and copy the code.

More in Activation codes.

Step 2: Install the app

Send the customer the download link for their device, together with the code:

If you use your own domain, send the links on your domain instead, for example tv.yoursite.com/apk. If you built a branded app, send its short number instead, for example dontv.shop/48213: it gives the customer your own app and is quick to type with a TV remote. More in Branding and custom domain.

Step 3: Sign in with the code

  1. Open the app: The customer starts the app.
  2. Choose the code: On the first screen, they choose Activation code.
  3. Type the code: They type the code you sent, 8 letters such as RMSX-ZGJB, and press OK or Connect. Dashes and lower case letters do not matter. Older 16-letter codes keep working.
  4. Wait for the first load: The app shows Setting up your playlist while it loads the channels and the guide. This only happens the first time.

The customer now sees your app name and logo, and the channels you gave them.

Troubleshooting

The TV does not allow the install. Android asks once whether the Downloader app may install apps. The customer allows it in the message that appears, or in the security settings of the TV.

The app says the code is not valid. Check that the customer typed the right code and that you did not delete it. Make a new one if needed.

The channels load but nothing plays. Check the customer's provider login under Your source. More in Provider logins.
