How customers work
A customer is a person you sell access to. You add them under one of your playlists, and they watch that playlist exactly as you built it: your names, your order, your logos and your TV guide. Your customers never see the editor or your account.
Where you find them
Open a playlist and click Customers in the bar on the left of the editor. The list on the left shows every customer of this playlist. Click one to open their settings on the right.
Each row shows the customer's name, their login username, a status word and their end date:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | Everything works for this customer. |
| Expiring | Their end date is 7 days away or less. |
| Expired | Their end date has passed. Nothing plays for them. |
| Off | You paused this customer. Nothing plays for them. |
Next to the Customers title you see how many customers you have and how many your plan allows, for example "12 of 250".
What a customer gets
Every customer has their own login, made by M3UTool. From it they get:
- An Xtream login (server URL, username and password) for almost any player app.
- An M3U link for players that only take one link.
- A TV guide link for the programme guide.
- An activation code for the M3UTool apps, if your plan includes branded players.
- Their own page: a web page with their end date, their devices, their setup details and a way to message you.
All of these belong to the same customer. What you set for the customer (groups, end date, devices) applies to every one of them at once.
Your provider login stays behind
Each customer also has a provider login: the login you bought from your provider for this customer. M3UTool puts it into the channel addresses when the customer presses play, so the video comes from your provider. The customer never sees it. More in Provider logins.
What you decide
- What they watch: all groups or only some. More in Group access.
- How many devices: how many devices can watch at the same time. More in Devices and connections.
- How long: the end date of their access. More in Expiry and renewal.
- On or off: pause a customer at any time. More in Edit, pause, move or delete a customer.
What happens by itself
- A change you make in the editor (a new name, a new logo, a new order) reaches every customer of the playlist. You do not need to send anything again.
- When the end date passes, access stops by itself on every device.
- Channels that failed their last check are left out of the customer's list, unless you switch on Include offline for them.
Note: A customer belongs to one playlist. You can move them to another playlist later, but their group access starts again from zero.
