Posters & info

FAQ

Q: Do I need my own TMDB key?

No. M3UTool has a built-in key for every account. Click Use your own next to TMDB key in the Posters & info window to add your own, and Go back to the built-in key to go back.

Q: Why did some titles not match?

Usually the title is cluttered, like "EN - 4K - Sintel 2010 MULTI", or it is looked up in the wrong language. Clean the names, check the language of the group and run Posters & info again. For a single title, use Find on TMDB. More in Pick the right match.

Q: Posters & info moved my movies into other groups. Why?

Sort into genre groups was on. It moves every match into a group named after its genre. Switch it off in the Posters & info window to keep titles where they are. To move titles back, move them by hand, or restore a backup from before the run. More in Backups and restore.

Q: My German group got English plots. How do I fix that?

Set the language of the group to German, either next to the group in the Posters & info window or under TMDB language on the Groups tab. Then run Posters & info on that group again. More in Language of posters and info.

Q: My NF films should sit with my English films. How?

Use Move to in the prefix rules. Set NF to move to EN. New NF films then go to the matching EN groups after each update, for example "NF - Action" to "EN - Action". To move the ones you have now, click Move NF → EN now under the rules. More in Language of posters and info.

Q: TMDB has no story in my customers' language. What can I do?

Write it yourself. Open the title, click Write your own story, genre, director, cast or trailer and write your text. It saves by itself. More in Pick the right match.

Q: Can I keep my own titles and only take the poster and plot?

Yes. In a title's details, open the settings next to Search and switch off Take the TMDB name. Your title stays, and the poster and details are filled in.

Q: Will a new Posters & info run overwrite a poster I set myself?

It can. A Posters & info run gives every title it matches the TMDB poster. To keep your own poster, leave that group out of the run with Pick groups…, or set your poster again afterwards. Take the TMDB poster in the settings next to Search only applies to the titles you pick by hand.

Q: New movies arrive without posters after every update. Can that be automatic?

Yes. Switch on the Posters & info step in Playlist automation. New titles are then filled in after every update from your provider. More in Playlist automation.

Q: Why does one series show " #2" after its name?

Two series in one playlist cannot have the same name, because the episodes of a series are kept together by its name. When the TMDB name is already taken, the second series gets " #2", and the list shows a small label "same name · 2". Player apps mix up two shows with one name, so the number stays. Rename it by hand if you prefer another name.

Q: Do my customers see the posters in other players too?

Yes. Posters go to the M3UTool apps and to other players such as TiviMate and Smarters. How much of the plot and cast a player shows depends on the player.
