Copy my account
You do not have to build everything again on your own machine. Self-host can copy your account from editor.dontv.shop: the playlists you pick, with their customers, and your settings. It is a copy, not a sync. Follow these steps to copy your account into self-host.
What is copied
- Your playlists with their groups, channels, movies and series, their order, names and logos.
- Fallbacks: they stay linked to their main channel.
- Sources and provider logins, the group mapping of Auto refresh and your series renames.
- Your Live sports setups.
- Your customers, with their usernames, passwords, hidden groups and expiry dates.
- Your TV guide sources and countries.
- Your branding: name, colour and logos.
Check results, the TV guide programmes and your backups are not copied. Self-host checks your channels and downloads the guide again by itself. Changes your customers made to their own lists in the customer portal are not copied either.
Steps
- Open Settings: In self-host, click Settings at the bottom of the left rail. Until you have copied once, the same card is also on the Overview.
- Open the copy window: In the card Copy your account from editor.dontv.shop, click Copy my account.
- Pick your playlists: The window Pick what to copy lists your playlists on editor.dontv.shop, each with its number of channels and customers. Every playlist that is not on self-host yet is ticked. Untick the ones you do not want, then click Copy 2 playlists (the number is how many you ticked).
- Wait until it is done: The card shows which playlist is being copied and how many channels are done, for example "Copying playlists: playlist 2 of 3 (StreamLine TV), 18,400 channels". A large playlist can take a few minutes.
- Check the result: When it is done, the card says Copy finished with a line such as "3 playlists, 36,512 channels and 12 customers copied." Your playlists now show on the Overview.
Nothing on editor.dontv.shop changes. Both keep working side by side.
Copy again
After the first copy, the button says Copy new playlists. It opens the same window every time.
- Playlists already on self-host are greyed out with Already here. You cannot tick them, so nothing is copied twice.
- A playlist you deleted in self-host can be ticked again. Delete a playlist in self-host first if you want a fresh copy of it.
- Customers are skipped when self-host already has a customer with the same username. The result tells you how many were skipped.
- Settings and TV guide sources that already exist in self-host stay as they are.
Your customers after the copy
Your customers keep their usernames and passwords, but their players still connect to editor.dontv.shop (or to your own domain there). To move a customer to self-host, give them your self-host customer address as the server, or send them their new M3U link from self-host. More in Address, domain and HTTPS and Customer links.
Troubleshooting
- This install has no M3UTool key. Add it with the M3UTool launcher first. The Copy button stays grey. Run the install command again with your M3UTool key (see Install on Windows or Install on Linux).
- The copy stopped unexpectedly. Start it again; playlists already copied are kept. Click Try again and tick the playlists that are not there yet. Each playlist is copied as a whole: a playlist that was cut off halfway is not kept, so nothing is left half done.
- Could not load your playlists from M3UTool: Self-host could not reach editor.dontv.shop. Check the internet connection of your machine and click Try again in the window.
- You copied from M3UTool 10 times today. Try again tomorrow. You reached the ten copies of the day.
