FAQ
Common questions about adding playlists, providers and refreshes.
Q: Should I use Xtream or the M3U link?
Both bring in the same channels, movies and series. Xtream is the easier one: you type the host, username and password, and M3UTool builds the link itself. Use M3U URL when your provider only gave you a link.
Q: Does editing my playlist change anything at my provider?
No. M3UTool works on its own copy. Your provider's list stays as it is, and your provider does not see your edits.
Q: Will a refresh undo my changes?
No. Names, logos, numbers, groups, TV guide links and everything you hid or deleted stay as you left them. A refresh only adds what is new, removes what the provider dropped and updates stream addresses. More in Refresh a playlist.
Q: Why does my playlist not update by itself?
It needs a source under Auto refresh with Scheduled updates switched on. A new playlist has no source until you add one. More in Refresh a playlist.
Q: Can I combine two providers in one playlist?
Yes. Add the second provider with Provider source under New in the top bar of the editor. More in Add another provider.
Q: My provider changed my password. What do I do?
Open Auto refresh, click the source, type the new password on the Connection tab and click Save login. The stream addresses in your playlist follow by themselves.
Q: How many playlists can I have?
As many as your plan allows. The Playlists tile on the Overview page shows how many you have out of your limit. More in Plans and limits.
Q: Can I copy a whole playlist?
Not in one step. You can copy channels to another playlist, or carry your edits over to a second playlist with Copy my edits to a playlist. More in Rename, start over or delete.
Q: How far back can I go with backups?
Automatic backups are kept for five days, and the first one of each week for 45 days. More in Backups and restore.
Q: I deleted a playlist by mistake. Can I get it back?
No. Deleting a playlist removes it with its customers and backups, and it cannot be restored. Add it again from your provider and restore your work with Copy my edits to a playlist from another playlist if you have one.
